Friday was Austin's last day of his last internship! He left downtown Baltimore and arrived a few hours later on what might as well be another planet...here at Smith Mountain Lake, VA. We spent the weekend with our good friends Bethany and James at Bethany's parents' house. Bethany and Tracy grew up around the corner from each other and have known each other forever. Their super exciting news is that James, who also had his last day of his internship on Friday, accepted the job offer from Minitab and they'll be moving to State College, PA next spring! They are well aware we are going to move in with them...I mean...visit...a lot.
Our other friend from back home, Sara, was visiting her family in the same area, so we got to see her, too! This was the first time I've seen Sara since her wedding in July 2006.

Ripken spent some quality time with Beth's Mom back at the house so we could play. He was very happy being held so much and getting so much attention...but we don't have any pictures to support this. Oops. He really was there.
Day 2: We graduated from boat rides to tubing. Ainsleigh was not entirely sure at first with Austin. 
Later she was singing songs (ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) with Tracy.
The last thing we wanted to do before leaving was make s'mores in the fire pit, but it turned out we only had mini marshmallows. Microwave to the rescue! Ainsleigh's first s'more.
We had a lovely weekend--just what we needed after spending the summer surrounded by concrete and sirens! Austin and James also spent some quality time on the couch watching Olympics, we enjoyed Bethany's Mom's homemade blueberry muffins and peach pie, and I even got to take a nap and almost finished a non-school-related book. Can't beat that!

Looks like you guys had fun in the sun and water! Seeing all of that green from the HUGE trees makes me nostalgic for the east!
Sounds like a great time! I had to chuckle at the "oops...no pictures of Ripken" comment. That's so typical of non-first-borns. :o)
Glad you enjoyed your time at the lake...looks like fun! I didn't know that Minitab still existed...I haven't seen it since my Junior year at Penn State!
