Today was the big day! After being rained out the past 2 weekends, we finally had a gorgeous Fall day--perfect for the Skippers' first soccer game! We arrived 15 minutes early (as requested) for warm ups. Well, in those 15 minutes Ainsleigh warmed up and also wore out! Her peak goal scoring definitely occurred during pre-game.

This was the more typical play-by-play: Ainsleigh starts with the ball.
Kids catch up to her.
Kids (including teammates) go for the ball.
Kids get the ball. Kids run away with the ball. Ainsleigh says "come back with my ball!" Kids keep running away with ball.
Ainsleigh sits down. Look at that face!

Our strategy for next time is to get there right as the game starts, not for warm-ups, since she needed a water break for the first part of the game. Additionally, we need to work on the whole "there's only 1 game ball" concept. They each have their own ball for all of practice, and no one tries to take hers away (since they all have their own), so this was a rude awakening. Why are you taking my ball? And why should I have to chase you to get it back? It's mine, so you should just give it back!

This week they have a game (instead of practice) on Wednesday. We'll let you know how our new strategy works!

I'd be ticked if they all came at me and took my ball away, too! Rude! What a cutie, though! Looks like the soccer season is going to be fun!
