Yesterday we went to Carnivore Preservation Trust. CPT used to do captive breeding, but now they have an exclusively rescue mission and provide sanctuary to abandoned or confiscated carnivores. We saw lots of intriguing animals, including: binturongs (I swear this is the Princess Bride fire swamp creature), caracals, kinkajous, ocelots, servals, and of course, tigers.
Their biggest tiger, Romeo.
Tigers go crazy for Obsession (yes, the Calvin Klein fragrance). Romeo couldn't get enough of it. If you ever go on safari, don't wear Obsession!
Jellybean, who got his name because the pads on his paws looked like jellybeans. No surprise, this was one of two of Ainsleigh's favorites.
Her other favorite was Lucky, who liked baby food (he was given this as a treat when he was a cub, and still loves eating it). Ainsleigh thought it was so silly to watch him lick the jar clean. Ripken was jealous.
That's a big kitty. And these were not the largest. They couldn't get Romeo to stand up for us, who would have been even bigger.
If you ever get the chance to go to CPT, it is well worth it! They only give guided tours on the weekend, and you have to make a reservation ahead of time. Tours are about 2 hours long.
