Swimming & Aquarium Trip #2

Yesterday we went swimming with some of the moms and kids from church. It was the first time since Ainsleigh was 10 months old that she swam in a legitimate (i.e., not kiddie or wading) pool. She discovered water wings (which she called "arm pillows") and noodles. She has a pretty good breast stroke kick and seems to prefer that to a scissor kick. And, no surprise, she loved jumping in from the side. I'm just glad she didn't launch herself when no one was there to catch her, although she was constantly getting yelled at by the lifeguard (et al.) for running around the pool deck.

Today we went to the Aquarium for the second time. We got there right when they opened so she had the place to herself for a little while. She decided to take advantage of this and spread out to do some horizontal viewing. The turtle was trying to figure out what she was doing:
The touch tank was again a favorite. She touched the snail part of a whelk, which she was expecting to be hard like the rest of the shell, so she startled and pulled her hand off pretty fast when it was soft:
She spent enough time here to know all of the answers to the questions the staffers were asking the kids, and kept blurting out the answers:
Q: How does a horseshoe crab turn over?
A (short for 'answer' as well as 'Ainsleigh'): It uses its tail!
Q: How many eyes does a horseshoe crab have?
A: 10!
Q: What's a horseshoe crabs closest relative?
A: A spider!

During the dolphin show Ainsleigh said "I love this dolphin show!" We also worked on our sting ray identification, and of course watched the sharks for quite a while (although it's too dark to get a decent picture of/with the real sharks).

Another fun visit!
